The Partner visa is for people intending to get married. Their fiancé must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. This visa is valid for 9 months from the time of grant. Once married, holders of this visa can then apply for a spouse visa.
This visa is for you if you are a parent of a child (natural, adopted or step child) who is a settled Australian citizen, settled permanent resident or settled eligible New Zealand citizen.
This allows a child to remain in Australia, with their parent who is also their sponsor. The parent must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen. The parent acts as a sponsor for the child and can lodge the visa application on behalf of the child. A child can be younger than 18 years of age, a full-time student between 18 and 25 years of age, or is unable to work due to a disability and dependent on the sponsoring parent. A child is single (does not have a spouse, is not engaged to be married, and does not have a de facto partner). The sponsored child can include their own dependent children in this application.
A temporary visa to visit Australia for up to 3 or 5 years per visa that does not allow for permanent residence in Australia like a permanent Parent visa.
Can re-apply for further visas to visit up to a maximum period in Australia of 10 years
Visa applications must be lodged within six months of sponsorship approval (after an approved ‘Parent Sponsor’) and cannot be lodged until a sponsor has been approved.
Only two parents per household can be sponsored for this visa at a time. You cannot work in Australia.
You must be outside Australia for at least 90 days before being eligible to be granted another subclass 870 visa, unless you have a Permission to Apply in Australia.
You cannot include family members in your visa application i.e. whilst a spouse can be sponsored at the same time, each visa applicant must make their own application.
